National Day of Prayer for the USA • Abraham Lincoln called the United States of his day to penance, prayer, and humiliation. What do we have to repent of? Our country has been guilty of exploiting human lives to ensure an abundance of cheap goods, food, and fuel. And there's more. What part of the Lord's Day actually belongs to God? We like to say that God is #1 in our lives but every Sunday we have a chance to prove it. Do we spend the first hour of the first day of the week on God, or on ourselves? Does it surprise us that God has deprived us of Sunday Mass? Does it surprise us to that we have been deprived of our beloved sports? God will bless America when America blesses God.
