Ord34 - The Power of the Servant King (9:55)
Solemnity of Christ the King. Our first two readings reveal Christ as the true King of the Universe, seated in power and glory on a throne that will be firm forever. Our Gospel shows us Christ on trial before Pontius Pilate. But then we look again and realize: Pilate is the one on trial. Will he accept the true King?
Unlike the kings of this world, Christ does not intimidate or dominate. Jesus will not force His kingship upon us but invites us to accept it. And He exercises His power not for Himself but for us: He serves His people. Will we accept the true King?
