Advent, 3rd Sunday (B) We were made by love and for love. But we often choose not to love. All too often, lust, control, domination, lying and taking from others look more attractive. These evil choices feed on lies about ourselves and about God: God doesn't love us, he doesn't care for us, we can't trust him because he lets us suffer.
Jesus comes as an innocent baby to show us that God is not a threat, and we don't need to be afraid of our weakness. He teaches that loves is always the way, no matter the cost. And he offers his life to free us from death. He is the light that shines in the darkness, the truth in a world full of lies, and the way that leads lost children home to the Father's house.
Do you want to see what this looks like in action? The blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, appeared to Juan Diego and gave him a miraculous image. It is a picture that tells the native people that she is greater than the sun and moon, and she is pregnant with someone greater still. Your mother loves you and wants you to find true life and true love in her Son.
