Ordinary Time, 7th Sunday (A) The biggest crisis of our time is not war in Ukraine, ongoing pandemics, or natural disasters. We are suffering from a crisis of identity. We don't know who we are. We don't know what we were made for. Consequently, we don't know what to do with ourselves.
Baptism teaches us who we are. In fact, it gives us not just one, but three identities. First, God adopts you as His child. Your Father will love you, protect you, guide you and provide for you. Second, you become a temple of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit will give you the wisdom to know the call of God and the power to accomplish it. Third, you become incorporated into the Body of Christ. And that means that you will suffer with Christ, responding to evil with good.
Are you living your true identity, or are you always going back to your fake ID?

Going Deeper: Have a conversation with a spouse or friend about what these three identities mean for you. How can your Lenten sacrifices reinforce your true identity in God?
