Easter, 2nd Sunday (Divine Mercy) • Jesus was always at peace because he was always in communion with his Father. He knew his Father loved him and would take care of him even when he felt abandoned. Now that Jesus has returned from the dead, he offers his disciples the same gift of peace.
There are two steps for to experience this peace. The first step is the forgiveness of sins. The second step is to enter into the life that Jesus has with the father. He has been opened up so that we can enter into him and share in his Communion with the Father.
Through Baptism and Communion we die to our old self and rise to new life in Christ. As we enter into a deeper union with Christ, we enter more deeply into communion with one another. What kind of friendship do you have with Jesus? What kind of friendship do you want from Jesus? Divine Mercy Sunday is a chance to go deeper.
