Advent, 1st Sunday (B)

We have forgotten where we came from and where we are going. We find ourselves wandering around feeling lost and finding ways to stay busy. Let's take a few minutes to remember where we came from. Before there was time, there was nothing at all. Then God said, "Let there be light." And the whole universe exploded into existence with a big bang. As matter cooled and coalesced, stars and galaxies and planets came into existence. Then slowly, life emerged on planet earth. It is brilliantly engineered and beautifully executed.

Behind the brilliance of Creation, there is an artist and engineer that we call God. Not only are we surrounded by creation, we ourselves are creation. We see the fingerprints of God all around us. We see the very image and likeness of God within us.

Have we forgotten what it means to live in creation? Have we forgotten what it means to be a creation? This Advent, pray for your eyes to be opened to the marvel and mystery of creation.

Going Deeper: Take some time to marvel at the creation that surrounds you. Take some time to gaze at the creation within you. Take some time to give thanks to your Creator.
